You don't need a higher pH reading. You need bioavailable minerals that support cellular function. That's what real alkalinity looks like.

Does Kangen Remove Contaminants?
This is the section that matters most — and the one Kangen reps hope you never ask about.
Kangen machines pass your water through a small carbon pre-filter before ionization. That pre-filter is functionally equivalent to a basic Brita — it reduces chlorine taste. That's it. No PFAS. No fluoride. No lead. No pharmaceuticals. No microplastics.
Here's the uncomfortable truth: you can't optimize water you haven't purified first. And Kangen doesn't purify.

What About Kangen's Research?
There are zero peer-reviewed studies on "Kangen water" as a branded product. The studies Kangen reps cite are about electrolyzed reduced water (ERW) and hydrogen-rich water — generic categories that apply to any ionizer or hydrogen device, not specifically to Enagic machines. And here's the part they leave out: a comprehensive review of that ERW research concluded that molecular hydrogen was the exclusive agent responsible for the therapeutic effects — not alkalinity, not pH, not ORP. The science Kangen leans on actually supports using a dedicated hydrogen device that delivers measurable, consistent H₂ — not an ionizer that produces unmeasured hydrogen as a byproduct.
